Timberlake's Data Science and Econometric postgraduate programme is built to be flexible. It allows you to tailor your learning to your specific interests, learning online around your career. Best-in-field experts lead all specialist courses for unrivalled quality.

European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) Equivalence

We are pleased to announce that we can now provide a certificate of equivalence between credits obtained in our MSc programmes and ECTS (European Credits). This offers students the flexibility to transfer these credits to other institutions (subject to their approval), for example as part of a study abroad programme or Erasmus exchange.

This feature is particularly beneficial for doctoral students, as many doctoral schools require a certain number of ECTS credits prior to thesis defense, while often providing limited course options in the doctoral field.

Credit Conversion Rule:

_{10 Lancaster University (LU) credits = 5 ECTS}

_{20 LU credits = 10 ECTS}

Modules are delivered across a flexible schedule, supported by remote learning, guided coursework and tutor support clinics.

Once started, students may have up to three years to complete the full Masters of Science. Please note, this is a part-time course and as such students taking the full Masters of Science must also do so over a minimum of two years.

How long do I have to complete the full MSc?

You have a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 3 years to complete the programme.

Is the Diploma/Qualification awarded different from any other LUMS diploma obtained from face-to-face courses?

No, all awarded qualifications are the same as those awarded for in-person courses.

Can I choose my own courses?

Yes, though please note that some courses require you to have completed specific modules first - any requirements will be shown on the module page.

What do I do if I can't attend a course live?

All courses are recorded and available on the LUMS internet platform throughout the current academic year. They can therefore be viewed 24 hours a day.

Do I need to buy any statistical/econometric software?

No, all necessary software is provided to students.

Do I need to take a break from work while admitted on the programme?

Both of our postgraduate programme's are designed to be as flexible as possible - allowing you to fit them around your schedule. You are able to build up to a full MSc at your own pace and can choose how many modules you wish to take each term. We would therefore suggest that you shouldn't need to take a break from work however, this may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the free time available to you. Once started, students may take up to 3 years to complete the full MSc.
